Bristol City finished the season in style with a fine win over Hull City, who saw their 17-game away unbeaten record ended in comprehensive fashion.

Jon Stead's tap-in and Brett Pitman's chip from a tight angle put the home side in control within 14 minutes.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce fired into the roof of the net from 18 yards shortly after half-time to put the game beyond Hull.

The Robins, who end the season in 15th, could have won by more as Stead and David Clarkson hit the post late on.

Both sides had nothing but end-of-season pride to play for, but Bristol City came flying out of the blocks.

They took the lead after just three minutes when Stead tucked the ball past Matt Duke from close range after being set up by Albert Adomah.

Bristol City doubled their lead through Pitman barely 11 minutes later and this time Stead was the provider, finding Pitman who chipped in from a tight angle down the left side of the penalty area.

Hull struggled to create many opportunities of note but came close when substitute Tom Cairney almost made an immediate impact, but his pinpoint cross was headed over by another substitute, Aaron Mclean, from six yards out.

Campbell-Ryce wrapped up the win 11 minutes into the second half, when a long punt forward by Jamie McAllister was chased down by the forward, who clinically dispatched the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the area in the 56th minute.

Hull finish their Championship campaign in 11th.
