Aled Sion Davies has added a gold medal to his bronze by winning the F42 discus at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The 21-year-old amputee follows Mark Colbourne as Wales' second gold medallist at the Games.

A throw of 46.14 meters with his final attempt proved more than enough for gold-medal favourite Davies, beating his nearest rival by over a metre.

The Bridgend athlete had won shot put bronze on Friday, becoming GB's first athletics medallist in London.

In a packed Olympic Stadium Jenny McLoughlin's T37 100m final medal hopes were dashed on Sunday evening as she finished seventh.

McLoughlin reached clocked a personal best of 14.48 seconds in the morning semi-final and equalled that time in the final.

However, Tracey Hinton, the GB women's athletics team captain, failed to progress through the T11 200m sem-finals.

Samantha Scowen finished fourth in the mixed double sculls final with Nick Beighton, beaten to the bronze medal by just 0.21 seconds.

And there was similar anguish for Rhiannon Henry as she was only 0.10 seconds from a bronze medal in the S13 100m freestyle at the aquatics centre.
