Qatar to host 2016 UCI Road World Championships
Qatar will host the 2016 UCI Road World Championships but the 2014 event in Spain could be under threat because of the country's financial problems.
World governing body the UCI said the organisers of the 2014 championships have "30 days to meet contractual commitments".
If they fail to meet the deadline "the event will be withdrawn from them".
Qatar is also due to host the 2022 football World Cup and the 2015 World Men's Handball Championships.
