Royal London One-Day Cup, The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence

Kent 274-8 (49.2 overs) beat Durham 271-7 (50 overs) by two wickets

Match scorecard

James Tredwell led Kent home as they recovered to beat Durham by two wickets in the One-Day Cup at Canterbury.

Ben Stokes, dropped by England for the third Test against India, hit a 56-ball 50 and Calum MacLeod made 94 as Durham reached 271-7 off their 50 overs.

Paul Collingwood (2-42) and Stokes (2-53) then reduced Kent to 108-5.

But Sam Billings' 64 and Calum Haggett's List A career-best 36 brought Kent back into it, and Tredwell (38) saw them home with four balls to spare.

One-day best for Haggett

Durham 23-year-old Calum Haggett had only made a total of two runs in his previous two List A innings, but has a highest score of 44 in first-class cricket

Needing three to win off the final over, Mitchell Claydon, against his former county, got a single before England one-day international Tredwell smashed a four off John Hastings to complete what had looked an unlikely victory in Kent's first One-Day Cup match of the summer.

Rob Key had been the only one of Kent's top order to make any significant contribution with 47 as they struggled against the seamers.

However, wicketkeeper Billings hit six fours and one six in his 54-ball knock, and youngster Haggett, who had earlier taken 2-54, scored his runs off 25 balls to bring the hosts' run chase to within a run a ball to set up the victory.
