T20 Blast: Boyce holds nerve as Leicestershire beat Durham
NatWest T20 Blast, Grace Road
Leicestershire Foxes 120-7 (19.5 overs) beat Durham Jets 117-9 (20 overs) by three wickets
Leicestershire beat Durham by three wickets in a low-scoring T20 Blast thriller at Grace Road.
Charlie Shreck (2-22) got rid of Scott Borthwick for a duck with the second ball of the match and, despite Phil Mustard's 29, Durham slipped to 77-7.
Gordon Muchall's unbeaten 28 from 23 balls pushed them up to 117-9.
Graham Onions then took 3-15 as the hosts slipped to 90-7 in the 17th over, but Matthew Boyce (46 not out) held his nerve to win it with one ball to spare.
As the game was drawing to a close Durham, who are now virtually out of the competition, were looking favourites in a fascinating encounter.
Leicestershire needed 21 off 12 balls, with three wickets remaining and Jigar Naik (16 not out) smashed a six and a four off successive Mark Wood balls in the 19th over.
It left seven needed from the final six balls and, after Leicestershire picked up for successive singles, Boyce hit a boundary off Chris Rushworth to secure a fourth T20 Blast win for his side.
