Batting coach Jimmy Cook joins Glamorgan
Former South Africa batsman Jimmy Cook has joined the Glamorgan coaching staff on a short-term contract.
The 59-year-old will coach the Glamorgan senior players, plus the club's academy and age-grade squads.
Cook broke almost every domestic batting record for his home province Transvaal, and scored more than more than 7,500 runs in three seasons with Somerset, including 28 hundreds.
"It's a new and exciting challenge," he told the Glamorgan website.
"It's one I am very much looking forward to. It's a great opportunity for me to work with new players and I hope I can help to further develop the talented pool of exciting young Welsh cricketers."
Glamorgan head of elite performance Matthew Mott said he was looking forward to working with Cook: "His playing record speaks for itself and his involvement with the players will be an invaluable resource for our batting group."
Cook is the second specialist coach to join the Glamorgan staff recently, following American fielding coach Mike Young to the Swalec Stadium.
