Match scorecard

Gloucestershire skipper Michael Klinger led from the front with an unbeaten century as Leicestershire were defeated by nine wickets at Grace Road.

Set a target of only 188, they knocked off the runs by mid-afternoon for the loss of only Chris Dent.

The young left-hander contributed 71 to an opening stand of 129 with Klinger before falling lbw to Jigar Naik.

Klinger, however, was unmoved, reaching 103 not out as his side made 191-1 to secure their first win of the summer.

Leicestershire needed to make early inroads when the visitors began on 16-0, but edges failed to go to hand as the Australian and his more aggressive partner provided their side with the platform they required.

Home skipper Ramnaresh Sarwan utilised seven bowlers.

But, although spinner Naik denied Dent a third first-class century with the final ball before lunch, Klinger hit a six and 16 fours.

The last of them was a square cut off Shiv Thakor to bring up his hundred and end the match, leaving Dan Housego unbeaten on 16 at the other end.

BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Bob Hunt:

"It was fitting that Michael Klinger should reach his century and score the winning runs off the same ball.

"Along with Chris Dent, he turned a potentially difficult final day into an easy victory.

"Klinger's well-paced innings was a delight and he orchestrated his side's first win of the season."
