Adam Lyth scored his second half-century of the match as Yorkshire maintained their promotion push with an eight-wicket victory against Glamorgan.

Lyth, who made 95 in the Tykes' first-innings, scored 50 in the second as Yorkshire cruised to a vital win inside three days at Headingley.

Earlier in the day, Glamorgan, 27-2 overnight, were bowled out for 182 with Steven Patterson taking 4-47.

Yorkshire reached 111-2 inside 29 overs and are one win away from promotion.

They were relegated from Division One last year but will make an instant return to the top flight if they take at least three bonus points and beat Essex at Chelmsford next week.

However, their task could be easier if third-placed Kent fail to win their ongoing match against Derbyshire at Canterbury.

Glamorgan made a terrible start to the day as they quickly lost William Bragg, Stewart Walters and David Lloyd to slump to 46-5, although Jim Allenby scored 48 to help them to a respectable total.

But it was never going to be enough for victory as Lyth, Phil Jaques (28 not out) and Gary Ballance (19 not out) took Yorkshire to the win.
