England off-spinner Graeme Swann will be rested for the remainder of the one-day series with South Africa.
Swann, 33, has admitted to carrying a long-term elbow problem and will sit out the last three matches.
The Nottinghamshire player features in all three forms of cricket for England and the ECB has been keen to manage his workload ahead of a busy year.
James Tredwell has been called up as cover, with Swann expected to return for the three-game Twenty20 series.
England trail 1-0 in the ODI series heading into Friday's third game, with Hashim Amla's 150 setting up an 80-run victory for South Africa in the second one-day international on Tuesday.
The first match was abandoned because of rain.
