England's Graham Onions bowled Durham into a strong position as relegation-threatened Lancashire struggled.
The hosts, who began the day on 221-6, were dismissed for 262, as Kyle Hogg ended on 60 not out and Tom Smith (91) added five to his score from day one.
Onions, who took
nine wickets in an innings against Notts
earlier in the month and
three more last week against Worcestershire,
finished with 6-41.
Durham closed 75 runs behind on 187-4, with opener Keaton Jennings making 70.
