Ned Eckersley scored a half-century as Leicestershire batted for the much of the final day to draw with Northants.
Eckersley (57) helped lead the visitors to 130-4, but his dismissal to Andrew Hall (2-61) sparked a collapse to 174-7, David Willey taking 3-66.
Despite losing Claude Henderson (20) to James Middlebrook (2-51), Shiv Thakor ended unbeaten on 39 to steer Leicestershire to safety on 227-8.
Earlier, Northants added 41 to their overnight total to declare on 252-5.
Rob Newton made a 26-ball 37, including a six and four fours, while Alex Wakely was unbeaten 38.
Leicestershire remain bottom of the Division Two table while Northants, who take nine points from the game, move on to 105 points, 15 behind second-placed Hampshire.
