Yorkshire's Adam Lyth scored an unbeaten half-century on a rain-shortened first day against Derbyshire.
After Phil Jaques shouldered arms to Tim Groenewald for three, Lyth (60 not out) put on 87 with Andrew Gale (47).
Gale top-edged a pull off Ross Whiteley to Mark Turner at fine leg, before rain arrived in the afternoon to halt play for the day with Yorkshire on 127-2.
Derbyshire are the Division Two leaders with Yorkshire third - on 120 points alongside second-placed Hampshire.
