No play was possible on day one of the County Championship match between Gloucestershire and Kent at Bristol.
Rain fell throughout the morning and, after lunch had been taken, play was abandoned with the outfield saturated.
Kent lie in fourth position in the Division Two table, but are only one point behind Hampshire in second, who currently occupy a promotion place.
Gloucestershire are aiming to claim their first Championship victory since beating Derbyshire in early June.
