Division Two leaders Derbyshire have gone 26 points clear at the top thanks to a narrow two-wicket win over Kent.
Chasing 295 to win at Derby, the hosts resumed on 168-2 but lost overnight pair Usman Khawaja (56) and Wes Durston (54) as they slid from 197-2 to 215-6.
Charlie Shreck, who took 5-41 in the first innings, claimed another four wickets as Kent pushed for victory to take them back into a promotion place.
But Dan Redfern's 50 not out saw Derbyshire reach their winning target.
Shreck's 4-99 left him with match figures of 9-140- comfortably his best since joining Kent last winter.
But that proved to be not quite enough, Kent's defeat leaving them third in the table, five points behind second-placed Yorkshire.
