Essex's David Masters took his seventh wicket of the match before heavy rain forced his side's game against Leicestershire to end in a tame draw.
The visitors resumed on 336-9 and added 23 runs to reach 359 before Masters had Matthew Hoggard caught by Harbhajan Singh to end with figures of 7-60.
Shiv Thakor scored 62 not out but a downpour ended the match prematurely with only 35 balls bowled on Saturday.
Essex take 10 points from the game while Leicestershire collect seven.
