Matthew Boyce scored an unbeaten century for Leicestershire on day one against Yorkshire at Grace Road.
The hosts stumbled to 59-3 and 98-4 as Yorkshire's Steven Patterson (3-54) made early in-roads.
Boyce finished the day on 106 not out, hitting 13 fours in his 224-ball five-hour stay at the crease.
Five other players reached double figures for Leicestershire including Shiv Thakor (35) and Michael Thornely (31) as the hosts closed on 318-9.
It was Boyce's second ton of the season - his other coming against Yorkshire at Scarborough in May.
