Neil McKenzie scored his first century of the season on a productive day for Hampshire against Essex at Chelmsford.
McKenzie (134 not out) carried his bat throughout the day, hitting 13 fours in over six hours at the crease.
His best partnership was with Sean Ervine (55) as the pair put on 110 for the fifth wicket.
David Masters, Graham Napier and Ryan ten Doeschate took two wickets each, but Harbhajan Singh was unable to find a breakthrough.
