Hampshire 6pts, Yorks 7pts |
Yorkshire's seventh draw of a weather-affected season keeps their promotion hopes on edge after rain forced an early end to their match at Hampshire.
Joe Root's unbeaten 225 was impressive, but with no play possible on day four at Southampton, the Tykes are now just seven points clear of Kent in third.
Hampshire, also involved in the promotion battle, picked up six points.
James Tomlinson's four wickets for 80 runs helped the hosts stay 10 points behind Yorkshire in the table.
The match also marked the Tykes debut of Steve Harmison, on loan from Durham, but he made just two runs with the bat and bowled five overs for 25 runs without a wicket.
