Yorkshire bowler Mitchell Starc is having to fly back to Australia to sort out a problem with his visa, reports BBC Radio Leeds.
The 22-year-old paceman only arrived in England on Saturday and was due to make his debut in the County Championship match at Gloucestershire.
"Well that's a first! Being deported from England. Surely nothing else can go wrong can it?!"
Starc is now likely to return to England next week.
He added: "Visa issue. Incorrect communication from Aus. Will be straight back to UK ASAP once sorted. In time for next Yorkshire game."
Yorkshire are blaming an incorrectly completed form by Cricket Australia, which meant the bowler was detained at Heathrow for more than four hours when he arrived.
Starc has so far made four Test appearances for Australia, taking 10 wickets at an average of 32.50.
His enforced absence comes on the same day that
fellow bowler Ajmal Shahzad left Headingley for Lancashire.
