David Wainwright bowled Derbyshire to victory in the final hour of their home match with Northants.
He claimed 6-33 as the visitors were skittled for 134 after Derbyshire set them the improbable target of 337 during the morning session.
Paul Borrington went for 98 after fellow opener Martin Guptill had eventually been dismissed for 137 before the declaration came at 314-3.
Wainwright then did the damage as only Rob Newton's 58 provided resistance.
