Opening batsmen Martin Guptill and Paul Borrington put Derbyshire in charge on day three of their County Championship Division Two match against Northants.

Guptill (131no) made his second first-class century for the county, while Borrington scored 66 not out as the hosts closed on 213-0, a lead of 235.

Northants, who dropped three catches, had resumed on 241-7 and ended on 264 as Tony Palladino mopped up the tail.

Derbyshire will be aiming to bowl out Northants on Sunday to claim the win.
