Leicestershire beat Tykes to book quarter-final place
Friends Life t20, Headingley
Leicestershire 191-4 beat Yorkshire 174-9 by 18 runs (D/L)
Twice winners Leicestershire booked their place in the last eight with an 18-run FL t20 North Group victory over Yorkshire at Headingley.
Aussie opener Andrew McDonald kept up his run of fine form in this year's competition with 96 - his highest Twenty20 score.
That helped Leicestershire post 191-4, a victory target increased to 193 when an over was lopped off by rain.
Bur Yorkshire's quarter-final hopes faded as they fell short on 174-9.
It was the Tykes' seventh defeat in this summer's competition as Leicestershire made sure of reaching the quarter-finals alongside North Group leaders Nottinghamshire.
Most of Yorkshire's batsmen made some contribution but a sixth-wicket assault of 42 in four overs between Gary Ballance and Jonny Bairstow was abruptly ended by Jigar Naik with three wickets in four legitimate balls.
Leicestershire, put in to bat, maintained a healthy run-rate throughout their innings, thanks to a splendid effort from McDonald, who cracked nine fours and three sixes off the 57 balls he received to edge ahead of Somerset's Marcus Trescothick as the FL t20 leading run scorer on 455.
