Notts sign Tamim Iqbal to replace David Hussey in t20
Tamim has played 19 Tests and 98 ODIs for Bangladesh
Nottinghamshire have signed Bangladesh international Tamim Iqbal as a short-term replacement for David Hussey in this season's FL t20.
Hussey is returning to Australia to prepare for his country's one-day series against Sri Lanka.
Tamim's signing is subject to approval from the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Hussey will play his final game for Notts against Lancashire at Trent Bridge on Sunday, 26 June.
Tamim, 22, has a Test average of 40.13 and has scored five fifties in six innings against England, including a century at Lord's in May 2010 .
"Finding quality overseas players at short notice is always a challenge but we are very pleased to have agreed a deal with a player of Tamim's quality," said Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell.
"He's an exciting player who has established himself on the international scene at a young age and he is already assured of a long Test career."
Tamim said he was delighted to fulfill a long-held ambition to play for a first class county.
Adam Voges takes over as Notts' t20 skipper
He said: "I have enjoyed every moment whenever I have been in the UK in the past and it is a privilege to be part of such a great club like Nottinghamshire, which has an awe-inspiring tradition and character.
"As the second Bangladeshi in county cricket [Shakib-Al-Hasan is currently playing for Worcestershire], it is also an honour for me and I hope to live up to the expectations of the club and the fans."
Notts have also confirmed the Australian Adam Voges has been awarded the t20 captaincy and will remain with Notts at least until the end of the group stage of the competition.
The county are also in discussion with their "preferred target" to fill the overseas slot for the latter part of the domestic season.
