Sussex all-rounder Luke Wright condemns Essex to defeat
Friends Life t20, Chelmsford
Sussex 168-6 (20 ovs) beat Essex 151-7 (20 ovs) by 17 runs
England all-rounder Luke Wright clubbed an unbeaten 81 to defeat Essex and give Sussex their third successive FL t20 victory of the season.
Wright hit seven fours and three sixes in his 51-ball knock and shared an opening stand of 106 with Chris Nash as Sussex racked up 168-6.
Chris Liddle (3-25) then took two wickets to help reduce Essex to 36-3.
Owais Shah (39) and Ryan ten Doeschate (14) shared 51 for the fourth wicket, but the visitors fell short on 151-7.
The win sees Sussex top the South Group on net run-rate from Hampshire, who have won all of their opening four fixtures but started the campaign with a two-point deduction because of a sub-standard Rose Bowl pitch last season.
