Tony Bellew will not be distracted by Cleverly prospect

Liverpool cruiserweight Tony Bellew has said the prospect of a rematch with former rival Nathan Cleverly will not detract from his forthcoming fight against Julio Cesar Dos Santos.

Bellew will meet the 36-year-old Brazilian on the same card as Cleverly, an event billed as 'Collision Course' at the Echo Arena on Saturday, 12 July.

Cleverly won the 2011 bout between the duo on points.

"All I'm thinking about is Dos Santos," Bellew told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I have no other plans or other feelings toward anything else. I just want to get the job done, winning and looking good. Then I can see where the road takes us."

Orthodox fighter Dos Santos is currently Brazil's second-top rated cruiserweight but has never fought in Europe before, and will arrive on Merseyside with victories in his last four fights.

However Bellew is wary of making any special preparations for the Bahia-born opponent.

"That's preparations up to my coach Dave Golden," Bellew continued.

"I've done all that in the past and every time I study guys diligently, I hit them in the first round and all of a sudden they completely change to the guy I've been studying.

"The guy I've been studying for weeks is usually winning fights and is on top, they come up against me and I nail them, they start running away.

"It does my nut to do that for hours and weeks. I will have a quick browse over maybe once or twice a week to spot the mistakes, get the timings or footwork."
