Against Kessler, the 35-year-old Froch took a unanimous decision, winning 118-10, 116-12 and 115-113 on the three judges' scorecards.
Speaking about the possibility of fighting Ward in the United States, Froch added: "I don't know why he wants me to go to America.
"He needs to come and beat me - that means travel."
Promoter Eddie Hearn told BBC Radio Nottingham before the Kessler fight that he expected a rematch between Ward and Froch.
"Everyone will want to fight Froch because there's a huge amount of money," he said.
"Of course Andre Ward is dying for a rematch. Froch is a true superstar."
Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis on Froch
"There's a couple of things I'm going to have a word with him about before he gets in the ring with Ward. Froch is up there with the best super-middleweight fighters. But he can't fight Ward the same way he fought Kessler. I noticed he had his left hand down a little low."
While Saturday's contest was billed as a unification fight, Froch is not now the WBA's champion in the strictest sense because Ward is the governing body's so-called 'super' champion at 168lb.
"I've not seen last night's fight back and I can't remember a lot of it," added Froch.
"I remember boxing well in the early stages and having a lot of success with my jab.
"He caught me with his fair share of shots. It made for a great fight."
Froch only plans to have a two-week break before he starts training again.
And he revealed that he wants to compete in triathlons when he finally retires from the boxing ring.
"I'm no spring chicken, I'm 35 and I need to get a move on," he said.
"Some boxers go on forever. I'll have a couple of weeks off and then I'll be back on the bike and running again."
