Elizabeth Cann loses in Italian Open first round

The defeat is Cann's second early exit in less than a month

Jersey's England number one Elizabeth Cann suffered another early tournament exit as she lost in the first round of the Italian Open on Wednesday.

Cann lost 21-17 21-6 to Spanish third seed Carolina Marin in Rome.

The 32-year-old lost in the second round of the Scottish International  tournament in Glasgow last month.

Cann, who won Commonwealth Games bronze last year  , is hoping to be selected as part of the Great Britain team to play at the 2012 Olympics in London.
