Guernsey's Tom Druce pleased with consistent times

Guernsey's Tom Druce says he is pleased with his consistency after coming third in his latest race in Slovenia.

Druce, 27, ran 400m in 47.05 into a strong headwind in Velenje on Tuesday.

The time was slightly down on the 46.92 he ran in Belgium on Sunday, which came less than a week after breaking the Guernsey 200m record.

"It's a 10th of a second down on Saturday, but it is consistency which is the first thing you look for," he told BBC Guernsey.

"It would have been nice to have had a bit of a jump forward, but it wasn't great weather and coming third is probably where I would have expected to come if i was honest."

Druce, who is not competing at next month's island Games in Bermuda, races in the Netherlands this coming weekend before focusing on his training for the British Championships.
