    Motherwell manager Stuart McCall has a different approach in mind for the visit of Levante in the Europa League play-off round.

    The Steelmen reached this stage of the competition after being eliminated from the Champions League qualifiers by Greeks side Panathinaikos.

    McCall hopes to learn from the mistakes made in those games.

    "Defensively we've got to be a wee bit more aware and cute when we do attack," the Lanarkshire side's manager said.

    It's all over in Bristol. Ravi Bopara was dismissed cheaply as South Africa beat Gloucestershire by three wickets in their 50 overs tour match at Bristol.

    Essex batsman Bopara, who was playing for Gloucestershire to get some practice ahead of England's ODI series against the Proteas, made just three runs in Gloucestershire's total of 261 all out.

    A South Africa team containing just two players from the third Test win over England at Lord's chased down the total with an over to spare.

    Germany's John Degenkolb of team Argos beat Italy's Daniele Bennati in a sprint finish to win the 168km stage around Logrono.

    A much-changed South Africa XI are close to chasing down the total of 262 needed to win their 50 overs tour match against Gloucestershire a Bristol.

    The fixture will live long in the memory for Gloucs number three batsman Dan Housego - the 23-year-old hit a splendid 132 off 136 balls before being bowled by Ryan McLaren.

    LONDON 2012

    A total of 100,000 tickets to go to the Olympic Park during the 2012 Paralympics are on sale.

    Anyone who buys the tickets will be able to get in to the grounds at the site in Stratford, east London, but none of the venues.

    These "non-event" tickets will cost £5 for adults and £1 for under-16s and the over-60s, London 2012 said.

    Tickets can only be bought at www.tickets.london2012.com. Wheelchair users can buy tickets by calling 0844 847 2012. Buyers can only pay with a Visa card.

    Worcestershire batsman James Cameron has decided to retire from county cricket at the age of just 26 - to pursue a new career in the City of London.

    The Zimbabwean, in his third year with Worcestershire, arrived at New Road from Australian grade cricket in 2010.

    "I have decided to retire from county cricket to pursue a career in financial services," said Cameron.

    "It has been an extremely difficult decision but, after much discussion with both family and close friends, I feel that it is in my best long-term interests.

    Alan Pardew has admitted a Football Association misconduct charge for pushing an assistant referee, the Newcastle manager confirms.

    ATHLETICS

    Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake's manager, Cubee Seegobin, suggests his runner may not face fellow countryman Usain Bolt in a race again this year.

    Bolt is due to contest the 200m in Thursday's Diamond League meeting in Lausanne, while Blake will run in the 100m.

    "It's something for the managers, the meeting director and sponsors," said Seegobin

    "And I don't think of it in terms of confrontation but in terms of what the organiser offers."

    BREAKING NEWS: FOOTBALL

    Sergio Aguero could be fit for Manchester City within a month, and the club are targeting the Blues' trip to Stoke on 15 September.

    The Argentine striker was stretchered off during City's 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday and initial fears were that he could be ruled out for most of the season.

    However, following a scan and a period of assessment, the club confirm Aguero could be back playing in four weeks' time.

    Macedonia name Cedomir Janevski as new national coach to replace former Wales and Real Madrid boss John Toshack who stepped down 10 days ago after just a year in charge.

    Toshack had been asked to live in Macedonia but preferred to continue commuting from Spain.

    The funeral for late darts commentator Sid Waddell has taken place in Pudsey, West Yorkshire.

    Those in attendance included former England cricket captain Andrew Flintoff, five-time darts world championship winner Eric Bristow and chairman of the Professional Darts Corporation Barry Hearn.

    Said Flintoff: "At home we'd spend hours watching him entertaining us.

    "He was a great man. There's not too many people who can make people smile instantly and spread happiness almost. He'll be sadly missed."

    Yohan Blake says his manager Cubie Seegobin will decide whether he and Usain Bolt will race against each other again head-to-head this season. Blake runs in the 100m in Thursday's Athletissima meeting with Bolt racing in the 200m, and the pair will also avoid each other at Diamond League meets in Zurich and Brussels.

    A new initiative announced by the Football Association will allow English non-league clubs to bid for grants of up to £150,000. 16 individual grants of £50,000 are available over the next two years under the scheme, with one club each year then eligible for a £100,000 super grant.

    "This £1million investment as part of the Budweiser Club Futures programme is a fantastic gesture, with the £100,000 super grant being a real pot of gold for the clubs involved," Sir Trevor Brooking, the FA's director of football development, said.

    The four South Korean badminton players who purposely tried to lose their last group matches at the London Olympics will be banned for six months.

    The Korean badminton association disciplinary committee banned the two women's doubles pairs from international and domestic play for six months following their disqualification from the Olympics for trying to deliberately lose in order to manipulate the knockout rounds.

    Arsenal have appointed Pat Holland as the club's new under-18s coach, and the former West Ham player will be joined at the academy by new youth development coach Kwame Ampadu.

    Steve Gatting, who has been an academy coach at the club since the summer of 2007, becomes the assistant professional development coach.

    Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho believes that a move to the Premier League will improve Nuri Sahin as a player. The 23-year-old is set to join Arsenal on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer.
