1334:EURO 2012
BBC chief football writer Phil McNulty is ready for tonight's Sweden v England game. Here is Phil's view of the scene on the streets of Kiev...
"I took a 20-minute walk from our hotel near the river to Independence Square this morning and it is obvious England's fans are going to be heavily outnumbered tonight. Sweden have their base here and thousands of their fans were walking through the city's roads - although they will hopefully reach the game unscathed because crossing through choking traffic is a treacherous business here. There is also a stretch of sand running along the river here and a giant Swedish flag has already been unfurled."
-
EURO 2012
Differing views are coming in on Andy Carroll's expected start tonight for England against Sweden...
Sam Holley on Twitter: "I'm a West Brom fan and seen Carroll v Olsson a few times. Never worked well for Carroll. Don't like it. Worried for England."
Liam Rabbitte on Twitter: "Although Carroll is slated, with better service he has the ability to bully defenders. Him and Welbeck are an exciting prospect."
-

Podolski says: "From all the teams, I have watched Poland the most as they are closest to my heart and I want them to go through to the quarter-final stage. I saw the Poland v Russia game (which finished 1-1) and it was a superb fight, I will cross my fingers for them in the Czech Republic game. They could meet us in the quarter-finals, but that will be their final destination unfortunately."

1317:
Guy Mowbray, BBC Match of the Day commentatorQ&A WITH GUY MOWBRAYQ: What's your favourite football stadium? (@NobodyFromOppo)
A: "I share a season ticket at my hometown team York with my father-in-law, so I would have to say Bootham Crescent.
"But leaving that aside I have very fond memories of the Mestalla in Valencia. I went there in 1998 to cover a Spanish Cup final between Mallorca and Bobby Robson's Barcelona. That was the first really big European club match that I had experienced first hand and I was blown away by the steepness of the stands and the noise around the place.
"Soccer City in Johanesburg, where I commentated on the 2010 World Cup final is special, but I think the Donbass Arena in Donetsk has the potential to be up there. The atmosphere for England's match against Ukraine next week will be awesome."
-
1315:FOOTBALL
Former England midfielder Owen Hargreaves tells BBC Sport he is "in a great position right now" as he looks to resurrect his injury-hit career. Despite being released by Manchester City, the 31-year-old Champions League winner has not given up hope of playing again. -
1310:
Guy Mowbray, BBC Match of the Day commentatorQ&A WITH GUY MOWBRAYQ: Do you think the atmosphere within the England camp is happier and more relaxed than previous years? And if so why is this? (From @ColdbeckR)
A: "I spoke to Scott Parker after the France game and I have never seen him in such relaxed mood. He was really happy to do the interview.
"There has certainly been the same level of media concentration on them, if not more so, but they seem to have handled it much better than in recent years.
"You can only put that down to the combination of Roy Hodgson, Ray Lewington and Gary Neville. Gary Neville has worked in the media for a year now. He seems to get what it is all about and seems to have got that across to England's players.
"Roy Hodgson's relaxed nature and his ability to handle the media much better than Fabio Capello maybe transmits to the players a bit as well."
-
1309:FOOTBALL
Michael Laudrup is taking over as Swansea manager and Spanish football expert Graham Hunter has been discussing the former Real Madrid and Barcelona star on BBC Radio 5 live. Of course I am dreaming and looking forward."

1252:
Guy Mowbray, BBC Match of the Day commentatorQ&A WITH GUY MOWBRAYQ: Out of all of the Euro 2012 games so far at this tournament, which has been the best, in your opinion? (@Stato_Grant)
A: "I thoroughly enjoyed Portugal's 3-2 win over Denmark. It was fast, it was furious, it had everything. There were goals and an exciting finale with Silvestre Varela's late strike, but it also had Nicklas Bendtner showing his pants in celebration and Cristiano Ronaldo doing his best Robin van Persie impression - missing chance after chance and getting more and more frustrated."

-
1233:
Guy Mowbray, BBC Match of the Day commentatorQ&A WITH GUY MOWBRAYQ: Why do you think Netherlands have under-performed so much this tournament? (@Crippy4Villa)
A: "I'm not sure that they have under-performed. Against Denmark they did everything but score. On another day Robin van Persie would put three of four of those chances away. And against Germany, a team I have been tipping since before the tournament, they just came up against a juggernaut. Even in that game, they came back into it and could have scored an equaliser after conceding first.
"If you are honest your memories of the 2010 World Cup final are that the Netherlands weren't that great. They scored a load of goals in qualifying, but were they against teams of the high standard that they are facing in this Group?"
-

Here are some thoughts on England...
Tim Oon on Twitter: "Jonas Olsson vs Andy Carroll looks like a interesting battle tonight - it will decide the game."
Josh Baker on Twitter: "Milner is the best crosser in a wide position we have. Should Carroll start, he will need that ammunition."
And more opinions on Ireland...
Salman Jaffer on Twitter: "Upset that Ireland did not show much but it was expected. People put too much pressure on them to stun people. They were ok."
Lewis C Dellar on Twitter: "Trappatoni should have picked in-form attacking players - McClean?! Hoolahan?! Who gave him a contract extension pre-euro2012??!!"
-
1223:EURO 2012
Former England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn tells BBC Radio 5 live: "I think the Swedish have let in a large proportion of headers so that would be an obvious reason for Andy Carroll. But Andy has to be on the move and not just be stationary. As the ball is going to be delivered, he has to sprint into an area where he thinks it will be delivered."
-
1220:
Guy Mowbray, BBC Match of the Day commentatorQ&A WITH GUY MOWBRAYQ: Guy, can we realistically with the play we used against France, actually win the Euros? (from @thesexiestoreos)
A: "No. Not with Germany looking dominant and Spain passing the ball about like they did last night against the Republic of Ireland. There are just too many teams who are too strong. Chelsea may have managed it in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich, but England may have to win four more games to reach the final.
"I don't think that you can keep getting away with it again and again as the opposition gets harder and harder. There is a good chance that we will be playing against Spain if we do get through to the quarter-finals and I don't think we could beat them playing like we did against France.
"Then again, I don't know how we would beat that Spain team!"
-
1219:EURO 2012

1205:EURO 2012
Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is confident Spain will not do any favours to Croatia when the sides meet. If Spain and Croatia draw with a score of 2-2 or higher on Monday, Italy will be eliminated. Buffon says: "There are going to be two teams of different levels facing each other and Spain, which is the favourite, has players with a pedigree that won't allow them to be unsportsmanlike."

EURO 2012
Is picking Andy Carroll going to prove the right way forward for England against Sweden tonight? Let us know your views via #bbcfootball. Here's what you've been saying so far...
Nick Varney on Twitter: "Will be dissapointed if Ox is left out tonight. Ox is a far superior player to Milner! Backing Carroll to make a big impact."
Niel Kenmuir on Twitter: "Roy doesn't think the only way we can get at these Swedes is by counter-attacking - so we don't need to start with The Ox."
Nick Broom on Twitter: "Defensive discipline could actually do England well. The sooner critics realise we're not Spain, the better."

1141:EURO 2012
Here is how Spain's press are reacting to their 4-0 win over the Republic of Ireland...
El Pais: "We have yet to see if Spain will win the Euro but it is clear that Torres is back. The hero of Vienna, the man who gave Spain the Euro four years ago, who had more pain than glory in the World Cup in South Africa, who almost fell into an abyss in the Chelsea district, is back home for good."
Marca: "Top-form Spain gave a complete football lesson: passing, pressure, stealing the ball and effectiveness. The national team crushed an innocent and clumsy Ireland with 72% of possession. The Irish suffered torment. They suffered from the immense technical superiority of the Spanish team."
AS: "Superb performance by Spain who crushed Ireland. A draw against Croatia will be enough for La Roja to qualify for the quarter-finals."

-
1125:Q&A WITH GUY MOWBRAY
Q: After the France game everyone said they'd have taken 1-1. What would be the minimum we would take now against the Swedes? (From @markysmiles)
A: The absolute minimum would again be a draw, but I think, realistically, England need to win. We wouldn't want to be playing the Ukraine in Donetsk in the final match needing a win to progress. We need to be in a position of strength for that last game. Having said that if we do beat Sweden, I fully expect us to go and beat Ukraine as well.
I also think that this is quite a nice halfway game to have in the group campaign. Here there are about 15,000 Swedes compared to 5,000 English fans. So, England are going to be up against it in terms of support tonight. That might just give them a taste of what it is going to be like in Donetsk for that final game against Ukraine.
-
1123:EURO 2012
Former Sweden midfielder Freddie Ljungberg can understand why Roy Hodgson is set to hand Andy Carroll his first competitive England start tonight. Ljungberg, who won 75 caps, says: "They are putting Carroll in to exploit a problem for Sweden. Out of the last 11 goals Sweden have conceded, seven have been headers, and it is something like six of the last seven. It shouldn't be like that. I completely understand the reasoning behind Hodgson's tactics."
-
1120:FOOTBALL
BBC Radio Wales football reporter Gareth Blainey outside the Liberty Stadium in Swansea: "No official confirmation yet from the club, but it looks increasingly likely that Michael Laudrup will be named the new Swansea City manager."

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says he is enjoying the battle with Przemyslaw Tyton for the Poland goalkeeping jersey. Tyton saved a penalty against Greece after a red card for first-choice Szczesny, who says: "Whether I play in the last game or not, that's up to the manager. I'm available, I feel confident, I'm ready to play, so I'm hoping I'll be in the starting lineup. This is what football's about. You want to fight for your spot."
-
MOTO GP
BBC Sport's Lawrence Barretto at Silverstone: "Nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi heads a Ducati 1-2 as the Italian finishes fastest in first practice for the British MotoGP at Silverstone. Rossi clocked his fastest time - 2:19.328 - right at the end of the session when the track had started to dry out following persistent rain at the Northamptonshire circuit. Nicky Hayden was second, reigning champion Casey Stoner fourth and British rider Cal Crutchlow fifth."
-
1102:EURO 2012
Former England goalkeeper David James thinks Andy Carroll could be the key to beating Sweden tonight: "Shevchenko was able to boss around the Swedish defence on Monday, and there could be an opportunity there. Someone like Andy Carroll could exploit that opportunity."

Andrew Teggin on Twitter: "Roy Keane expects the Irish to be booing their team off the pitch after a poor display, but we aren't like that."
Phil Gallagher on Twitter: "Keane hit the nail on the head, who cares if we win the best fans award? I'd rather win football matches than be party champs."
Sam Batty on Twitter: "Roy Keane saying it how it is... No nonsense, no excuses, no opting out..."

Sweden's chances may - or may not - be helped by Zlatan Ibrahmovic's recovery from a sore thigh. Former England captain and MOTD pundit Alan Shearer is a fan: "A big part of his game is confidence, or arrogance even. But I don't think it does him any harm. As a striker, it probably helps if you harness it in the right way."
-
1047:EURO 2012
Here's Lundgren on tonight's game: "The way I see it, Sweden have to win that match otherwise they're out. The Swedes could do with a win, I suppose. We're stuck up there in rainy, drizzly Scandinavia and there's not much to cheer about other than the beer and the women, so I hope we win."
-
1042:EURO 2012
In slightly more bizarre news, Sweden-born all-action movie hero Dolph Lundgren has revealed to 5 live Breakfast's Nicky Campbell his affection for Everton: "It's complicated. I live in Los Angeles, and I'm in Singapore right now filming. I watch Swedish football and English football sometimes. But when I lived in Europe, I liked Everton."
-
1037:EURO 2012
Radio 5 live's George Riley has visited Camp Sweden in Kiev, where 5,000 Sweden fans are based ahead of tonight's match against England. He says: "The other side of the camp is like Glastonbury, but with music replaced by former Swedish players and members of the coaching staff coming down to talk."

Plenty of tweets coming in on England (#bbcfootball is the hashtag to use please), but not so many on the Republic of Ireland. Keen to know what you made of Roy Keane's comments last night? Here's what he said on ITV1: "I think the players and supporters have to change their mentality. It's just nonsense to say how great the supporters are... Let's change that attitude towards Irish supporters. Let's not kid ourselves, they want to see their team winning. Let's not just go along for the sing-song now and again."

John McCann on Twitter: "I hope England get put out! Anti football and sick of hearing about them."

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty on tonight's Sweden-England game: "If England have been too eager to please the opposition in recent major tournaments like the South African World Cup in 2010, then their poor approval rating here may well be a good sign."

Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon is given a four-match ban - two of which will be suspended - for a gesture he made during his side's 5-1 Scottish Cup final defeat against Hearts last month. Jay Bowler on Twitter: "England to win tonight, we need this result. Really hoping the back line can subdue Ibrahimovic, and Welbeck to score!"
George Davies on Twitter: "If Carroll scores in euros at some point could have a big impact on confidence and lead him back to his old Newcastle form."
Pratik Singh on Twitter: "Carroll aerial strength + Welbeck's clinical finish should be the ideal combination up front."
-
1009:EURO 2012
Former England manager Graham Taylor, speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, thinks Roy Hodgson's international experience - he led Switzerland to the 1994 World Cup finals - is a great asset: "Roy is the only England manager with previous international experience, and I really do believe that is a big plus for him. He's managed in Sweden and he knows people on the international scene. He will know the strengths and weaknesses of the Sweden team."
-
1005:EURO 2012
More from England captain Steven Gerrard, who feels Monday's 1-1 draw against France has set things up nicely for tonight's match: "With all respect to Sweden, who are a good, strong team, they're not France so we can be more bold and ambitious and get at them. If we perform to the same level we're confident of victory."

England will be without the suspended Wayne Rooney against Sweden tonight. But captain Steven Gerrard is hoping a win over Sweden will set the stage for Rooney's return against Ukraine on Tuesday: "Wayne adds an awful lot of quality and skill to this team. If we can get a good win on Friday then get him back fit and raring to go, it is only going to improve things."
-
0955:EURO 2012
Former Republic of Ireland international Kevin Kilbane thinks Damien Duff, Robbie Keane and Shay Given should stick around for the 2014 World Cup."I just hope they look at the Brazil World Cup as something to aim for as a final fling," he told BBC Sport. "Qualifying and playing in that would be a much better way to bow out, if that was what they wanted to do."
-
0952:EURO 2012
Spain striker Fernando Torres on last night's 4-0 win over the Republic of Ireland, in which he scored twice: "We needed a performance like that, with everyone doing their job well in their position, and we are coming away with a positive feeling knowing that we are as strong as ever."

Rob Griffin on Twitter: "People should stop moaning about England's lack of possession, there's more than one way to play football, not just the Barca way."
Ben Johnson on Twitter: "Two strikers doesn't necessarily mean more goals. Young, Milner, Walcott, Ox & Gerrard have all scored goals this season and pace will hurt more than height against the Swedes."
Godfrey Muchiri on Twitter: "How about England starting with Carroll and Welbeck upfront, then Ox and Young on the flanks? Milner and Walcott as supersubs."
-
0944:EURO 2012
Former Derby, Hull and Preston manager Phil Brown on BBC Radio 5 live: "It's fascinating to compare Spain and England. The Spain national team play in a similar way to Barcelona. They play without a number nine, a focal point - whereas our focal point tonight is Andy Carroll - so it's a different way of playing."

There's a fair bit of debate too over the England team and game plan.
Ian Armitage on Twitter: "Carroll can have a big impact for England."
Patrick Ashton on Twitter: "Don't know what to think about the Carroll rumours. Walcott for Milner would have been my only change against weaker opposition."
Ian Savage on Twitter: "If England show the same organisation, pace and confidence we showed against France we should have no problem tonight."

Samuel Horscraft on Twitter: "Overall I think the standard of refereeing hasn't been too bad. Most refs have let the games flow and not been too card happy."
Mike Fogarty on Twitter: "The refereeing so far has been 50/50 I think. Some refs have had good games but the one in the France-England game was atrocious, for example."

More from Terry McDermott on BBC Radio 5 live, this time on England's tactics for tonight: "I'm sure we'll see Steven Gerrard a lot more forward. If he plays well, I think England will play well. English referee Howard Webb has been criticised by Croatia caoch Slaven Bilic following yesterday's 1-1 draw with Croatia in Group C. Bilic felt Webb should have awarded a penalty when striker Nikica Jelavic clashed with Giorgio Chiellini in the Italian box. "I'm sure that was a clear penalty on Jelavic," Bilic says. "He was a referee who helped the Italian team a lot."
-
0919:EURO 2012
Former England midfielder Terry McDermott, on BBC Radio 5 live, is optimistic ahead of tonight's Sweden game: "I think we'll win. I'm delighted Andy Carroll is playing. It's a very wise move. If John Terry can't handle him, I'm not sure the Swedish defenders can. After the group stage, they are one-off games and England's players are as good as anyone. We can beat anyone."

Leigh Richmond on Twitter: "England have no chance of winning the Euros if Steve McClaren thinks we are playing the right tactics!"
Oliver Jarman on Twitter: "Struggle to understand why Downing made England squad. Surely Lennon on the right. Young on the left? Two of best wingers in the Premier League."
Diehard Si on Twitter: "If we drop Ox tonight it will be a bad decision. His pace against a slow Swedish defence would of been a great advantage."

0909:EURO 2012
France coach Laurent Blanc is certainly wary of Shevchenko, having faced him in a Milan derby or two. "I know Shevchenko well, I played against him and he was difficult to mark," Blanc says. "I was not always happy at the end of the games. He is in great form, but he needs a bit of space to show it."
-
0905:EURO 2012
The picture in Group D should look a little clearer after tonight. Ukraine can take a huge step towards the quarter-finals by beating France in Donetsk. Captain Andriy Shevchenko was involved in a minor road accident after Monday's 2-1 victory against Sweden, in which he scored twice, but he was not hurt and is available for selection. Michelle Worgan on Twitter: "Having nothing to play for, Ireland may as well hand over the 3 points to Italy."
Crip Cooke on Twitter: "Sad to see Ireland eliminated in the manner they were but the fans showed dignity & spirit that was a credit to their nation."

0849:EURO 2012
England's tactics have come in for criticism after they had only 38 per cent of the possession against France on Monday. But former England manager Steve McClaren thinks Roy Hodgson is doing the right thing. "Possession wins nothing," McClaren told BBC Sport. "We need to play to our strengths. England can win a tournament playing how they are playing at the moment."
-
0846:EURO 2012
More from the Sweden perspective. Henrik Larsson, a goalscoring legend for his country, is wary of England. "The England side I saw against France is one I haven't seen before," Larsson told BBC Sport. "They were disciplined and patient - I have never seen it in the English team playing in a big championship."
-
0842:EURO 2012
Former Sweden goalkeeper Thomas Ravelli has enjoyed the odd notable battle with England down the years - including that Euro 92 meeting we referred to at 0828. Here he is on BBC Radio 5 live, assessing his country's chances: "We always seem to draw! It's easy to play against England strangely. We have been seeing English football on television since we were very small kids. We are a little afraid of the likes of Italy and Spain because we haven't seen them as much. But this time there is an England coach who knows Swedish football. That's the problem. If Rooney had played then the guys on the pitch would have been more afraid. But the pressure on England isn't so high this time."

Ben Vokes on Twitter: "We need goals to top the group and avoid Spain. Carroll height, Welbeck pace. Young and Ox on the wings please Roy!"
Michael Chivala on Twitter: "Young and Ox feed Carroll, Wellbeck to pounce on anything loose, Subs: Downing straight swap, Milner for stability, Theo for impact. "

0835:EURO 2012
Taylor is urging the nation not to get too carried away on the back of Monday's 1-1 draw against France: "We have to be a little bit careful. Don't let's think that because we've drawn with France, we will beat Sweden. They are a good team." England fans will hope that Euro 92 history doesn't repeat itself there - 20 years ago, Taylor's men drew with France in the group stages before losing to Sweden.
-
0831:EURO 2012
Graham Taylor, who was England's manager that night and took off a certain Gary Lineker in the second half, has been on Radio 5 live this morning. He says: "Over the years, Sweden have been what you would call a nearly team. Every now and then they produce a team who are very difficult to beat, then they go through periods where they are nowhere to be seen. It's difficult to say why England have a poor record against them."
-
0828:EURO 2012
Remember Euro 92? England needed to win their final group game at the Rasunda Stadium in Stockholm to go through, went in front early through David Platt, then lost as Jan Eriksson and Tomas Brolin scored.
-
0824:EURO 2012
History isn't always a good indicator of the future, but Sweden do have a habit of making life difficult for England. The Three Lions may have won 1-0 in a friendly at Wembley last November, but they have never beaten Sweden in a competitive game.
-
0822:EURO 2012
Mike Ingham, BBC Radio 5 live's chief football correspondent, on tonight's Sweden-England game: "By the high standards of this tournament, Sweden are one of the weaker teams. England have to take the shackles off. But, for some reason, Sweden have been England's nemesis over the years. It's probably because so many of them know about English football. They are good at set-pieces. But if anyone knows how to overcome Sweden, it should be Roy Hodgson. Andy Carroll is only going to be useful if he gets some service. England must be clinical when they counter-attack. They must not go into the final game, needing a win."

0814:EURO 2012
Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Jason McAteer on BBC Radio 5 live: "It was a very difficult night, made worse by the fact we conceded early again. The team talk went out of the window. Against Croatia, there's a chance you can get back in the game but, against the world champions, you're up against it. They fluffed their lines. It's different playing in certain internationals than in a major tournament."
-
0811:EURO 2012
Former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy thinks the scale of the defeat will have hurt experienced players such as Shay Given, Damien Duff, Richard Dunne and Robbie Keane. He says: "They won't want to retire on the back of that performance, that's for sure. I would be worried if I was Italy, because Ireland are going into the last game with nothing to play for except pride. So we've got nothing to worry about."
-
0809:EURO 2012
While England are looking forward, the game is up for the Republic of Ireland, eliminated with one Group C match still to play. And while Spain looked good, Giovanni Trapattoni's side did not cover themselves in glory. "Fear and tension has meant that we have made mistakes we didn't make in the qualifiers," Trapattoni says. "I will ask the lads how on earth it is possible, after two games, we have conceded two goals in the opening three or four minutes."
