FACTS

Artists featured at the JuJu Club have included Hugh Masekela, Kanda Bongo Man, Misty & Roots, Fundamental, Jesus Alemany, Roberto Pla, Mouth Music and Shooglenifty.

The JuJu team are also partners in Headcharge a local all-nighter with two rooms playing acid techno trance in one, plus dub, reggae, drum and bass and breakbeat in the other.

The club's main venue in Sheffield is the Boardwalk on Snig Hill near The Corporation.

Gigs are usually on Saturday nights and go on until midnight (occasionally 01:00).

There's a wide range of live music, mixing roots bands from Africa, Latin America, Asia and other global points with African drummers and UK based musicians playing dub, techno and other dance flavours.

Native State

A journey through ambient, dub, reggae and jungle vibrations alongside live multiscreen projections.

The evening at The Boardwalk will feature live performance from the 9-piece Native State, presenting an electro-acoustic balance of traditional dub and urban breaks.

There'll also be DJ sets from Chris Smith (Comfortable) & B-boy; The Dervesh (Disoriental/Juju) & Tim Miller (Native State).

Vital and exciting dance music from the globetrotting Brixton crew - a "9 piece ska, reggae, dub and breaks sensation"!

Sponsored by Dr. Martens, Maroon Town have toured Japan, the Caribbean, Latin America, India, Indonesia, Central Asia, the Ukraine, Sri Lanka and a host of other locations gigging, fund-raising and running workshops.

With DJs Papa Al & Dervesh. Doors 8pm-late. Tickets £6 / £4 concessions.

JuJu also organise a fortnightly event - Live @ Bukowski's (Bukowski's Piano Bar & Diner, 217-219 London Rd, Sheffield).

It's been running since Feb and has proven popular with people of all ages and from all walks of life.
