What's the grub like, then?
We went for a valentines set menu. Four courses for £19. To start with we had a lovely, light frothy soup. Then we had a shared plate of mixed bruschetta.

For main meals we had a choice of three pasta meals. I chose the vegetarian one with wild mushrooms, artichokes, parsley and lemon oil with freshly shaved parmesan cheese - it was out of this world! My partner chose a pasta in a tomatoey sauce with a fillet of seabass on top.

The deserts were out of this world! A shared plate of italian deserts-best deserts I have tasted.

What did you drink?
Bottle of wine - priced about £14 but got 3 glasses each.

What's the crowd like?
Mixed, mainly couples.

And the vibe?
Quiet, relaxed, friendly

Anything else you'd like to say?
try if for yourself and see.

Value for money?
It was a set menu for about £19 each but very good value. The pasta was very fresh, nicely presented and the staff were helpful and friendly.

This place is absolutely fabulous. The food, atmosphere and customer service are perfect. The attention to detail on the dishes makes it stand out from any other pasta selling establishment in or around Sheffield. I go whenever I can and have just booked again for Tuesday! A bit of advice - starve yourself for the whole day before you go, you will not regret it!!!! Brilliant, thanks!!!!

I have been a pasta chef for 10 years, and I have to say this place does the best penne around!

The most delicious and interesting pasta I've had outside Italy. I'm getting a bit stuck on the Cavoli e Pinoli but I can't resist. I can eat but portions are very large. I've only managed a desert once (after going nil by mouth specifically to make room). But what a pud! Bread and butter, crème brulée with apple/sultana/rosemary topping. I was transported.

We have also been visitors many times to The Pasta Bar since it first opened. We have stopped telling people about it because when we booked last time it was difficult to get in. It is as others have said the fresh pasta that makes this place different and also the way it is cooked. Fabulous.

Loved it! Pasta was amazing, as was the bruschetta starter i shared with my dining companions. my pasta came with huge chunks of italian spicy sausage, and such a generous portion I couldn't finish it (but not for want of trying!) the steamed chocolate pud is also divine! Highly recommended, the staff are v friendly and really know their stuff. and don;t try to rush you as well - we were in there for over 2hrs and not made to feel like we were holding anyone up 27/05/05

This was only our 2nd visit and wished we had been more often. All the reviews here are spot on. It’s nice to go to an Italian and eat food that you know you would struggle to recreate at home. The portions are deceivingly large, the staff efficient and attentive but not over the top. £75 for 4 people for 2 courses including soft drinks, a beer and a £15 bottle of Chianti. Can’t wait to go back.

Have been here quite a few times. Pasta is delightfull, you can really tell it's fresh. Prices are very reasonable and service always comes with a smile. I would note that the portions are huge! - i'm hard pressed to get through starter and main course.

Just been reading the other reviews for the Pasta Bar and found it very heart warmingly true. We have been several times now, and as well as agreeing with everything the others have said, its also worth mentioning that ALL the staff seem very clued up about all the ingredients and cooking processess involved in EVERYTHING on the menu. There seems to be a very thorough approach to their service. My fiance and I took eight friends (some of whom are picky eaters) last Sunday and everyone was bowled over. 16/02/05

I am impressed with this place. The service was great, for once, and the prices not bad all things considered. The stars were the mains: absolutely stunning. Oh. Steak+mushroom linguine - get there before it's wiped off the blackboard. Shame the starters were quite bread heavy; I would have expected a lot more meat for my six quid. But overall: recommended.

We called on a Saturday night about 9.00 and amazingly they had a table for 2 spare. Staff really smiley and friendly. Pleasant enough decor, unobtrusive music, we felt relaxed straightaway. But the pasta was the real star. We did'nt bother with starters, I had a pasta off the specials board made with italian sausage which was excellent with loads of ingredients and big thick chunks of sausage. My partner had the courgette, walnuts and Dolcecante cheese, which was also wonderful plus we shared a rocket and parmesan salad. We had the house merlot which was a mistake (ours it did say on the menu light but it was too lacking in body for our tastes). I'm sure though that if we had mentioned it to the waitress she would have changed it. Its that kind of place. Definite 5 moos for the homemade pasta plus the prices aren't bad either, we will definitely be back!

Tried the Pasta Bar for the first time last week and thought it was wonderful.Party of 5 had a selection of side orders as starters - the bread, olives and slection of "salsas" were scumptious, as was the parmesan & rocket salad. All main course pastas were a dream, truly fresh pastas served in simple yet wonderfully tasty dressings (MUCH better than than pasta plonked in tons of sauce like many other places). Wine & beer good value also. Friendly and attentive staff. We'll be making regular visits ! 4 Moos.

I have eaten at The Pasta Bar many times and have enjoyed every occassion - the fresh pasta, ambience, service is all first class. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a friendly atmosphere and freshly made pasta. And the tiramisu is a must!
