This a First class Restaurant of 1st class food. The staff are great. The Best Indian Restaurant for all round sevice and the prices are good.Don't be put off with other comments try it and see.
Went on Saturday night and were very dissapointed. The food took ages to arrive, it was lukeware and tastless. The lamb was mutton and rather sinous and chewy and the spices in the dish were bland. The garlic naan and the peshwari were not much better. Oh and boy do they know how to charge. Much better elsewhere - Balraan in Doncaster is excellent if you make the trip.

After reading reviews before going to Amraj we were very aprehensive as to what kind of service we would be receiving, we went for the Monday night buffet and thought it was excellent.
The food was piping hot and we had plenty of choice for starters and mains, the staff were friendly and helpful and we were seated straight away. All of the food containers were always full and refilled as they became empty. The staff were extremely hygienic wiping up any spillages.
This is a great looking restaurant, but has very ordinary food. There are far superior Indians, food wise in the Sheffield area. It always seems all curry paste and no quality ingrediants.
If you want a good Indian meal in this area, you are far better off going to Rubeez at Gleadless.
I think anyone who rates this food as excellent really needs to try different Indians.

Fantastic quality of food - been going there for years (old and new)-
I have never come away from anywhere feeling totally let down as I have at Amraj. We waited half an hour for our table (it was pre-booked), we asked 4 times for drinks before they arrived. It took over an hour for our food to arrive and I had to send it back as it was cold. By the time mine came back the rest of my group had finished theirs (which also wasn't very hot, but they had waited that long that they just ate theirs). Better quality food from my local cheap take away "curry house". The staff are totally unhelpful and the food is rubbish. I will never go back. Waste of money.
We were totally unimpressed with it. The food was far, far too spicy - even by Indian-food standards - the atmosphere of the place was non-existant - tables were far too close to each other, not very romantic! - and it was extortionate in price. 04/05/05
Me and the Mrs have been 3 times in the space of a month, just to give it a another chance, hoping that each time it will get better. But sadly we have been disappointed on each occasion. We love our indian food I think there are a lot better tasting, and cheaper alternatives in Sheffield and would not recomend the Amraj. The food is expensive and not worth it.
Loved the "old" restaurant but not tried the "new" - hope it is just as good as we travel a long way - well from Kirkby in Ashfield anyway.
Load of carp - Been the the Amraj the last two Fridays. The restaurant is gorgeous, very classy and trendy. The food is out of this world AMAZING. As for the service we had four different people come to our table to check for drinks etc, never had to wait for anything, they even carry you your drinks from the bar to the table when seating you.
Review is rubbish me and my partner and loads of friends wont entertain ay other restaurant because the amraj is far superior than most restaurants in sheffield I personally have only had one problem and that was when the new place opened and i dont think they were ready for being packked out from wall to wall.
Always had great food and good service. No complaints.
I'm with Katie - been there since the old restaurant was opened in the centre. Never any problems.
Had to ask several times to be waited upon - tongue burning, desparate need of water - 10 minutes waiting for fire hose!
Staff v poor, meal nice but expensive for portion size.
Oh dear! Went once to old location and loved it so very well-disposed to a second visit. Food mediocre, lighting too low, freezing cold tho' the restaurant was packed. Particularly disappointing was the saag paneer - green sludge but MIA paneer cheese!
Been once. No atmoshphere. Too big and noisy. Never goin back. Especially when you have the Lajawab up the road which is a normal place looks wise but the food is amazing and the staff are brilliant. Or the Mangla is a short taxi ride away which is legendary!
He should go next door for loud Happy Birthday songs. Amraj's onion bhajis are just ordinary - what is he on about? And a school canteen? Must be a posh school!
What a joke! And he can't even spell. My family have been going to that very same restauant for over 5 years (including the old restaurant) and have no complaints.
