Lightning does strike twice!!

It's only a few days since my last diary entry, but under orders - I write again! (Sorry Neil, but a trip to Ireland means I have to crack the whip this week! Ed).

I really wanted to wait until after Tuesday's game against Wrexham, but never mind - it's not as though there is a shortage of things to discuss.

We played Grimsby at home on Saturday, and I think that most of us were expecting a tough, dour game. In that respect it didn't disappoint.

They came for a draw, and that is what they got. I think that one of our weaknesses this season has been breaking teams down when they settle in for a point.

We sometimes lack that little bit of extra creativity needed, and hopefully that is something that Gudjon can remedy post-administration.

It didn't help that Gorre and Lumsdon, two of our more creative players, were both missing with injury - let's just hope at least one of them is fit for Wrexham.

We did of course get a fantastic opportunity to win the game. A penalty in the closing minutes - conceded by Darren Barnard formerly of Barnsley, and missed by Gallimore - formerly of Grimsby.

Its not the first time this season, the same thing happened against Oldham at home in the final minutes. Four points thrown away, and I can't help thinking we will regret that at the end of the season.

The atmosphere was a little flat on Saturday. Surprising really, as news that the takeover had been completed at 5.30am that morning had come through.

We are of course still in administration, but according to Mr Ridsdale that should be sorted in a matter of days.

After all the waiting, I think we were expecting more of a celebration. The important thing is that we now move on, put the last few years behind us, and set about getting ourselves back into the First Division.

So, Wrexham at home, and another ex-Red to welcome back. Lee Jones, who hardly set the world alight at Oakwell, is leading the line for Wrexham - let's just hope we can keep him and his colleagues very quiet.

They are on a good run, and will be looking to go top if they win both their games in hand. I think we will get the three points tonight, 2-1 to the Reds, and I'm going to suggest Betsy to score.

The speculation about new players is picking up pace. I think we need to strengthen all over the pitch, but priority has to be up front.

Some pace at centre half, and a couple of good full backs wouldn't go amiss either, but lets not be greedy. We can go second on Tuesday- the future is looking good!!

COME ON YOU REDS!!
