Location - Grenoside Primitive
Methodist Chapel, Main Street

And these
were your suggestions -
Nicola Wragg:
I think this is Burncross Chapel. I recognise it from previous
photos I have seen. The reason I have been looking is that I now
live in the house on the right of the picture.
Richard Godley:
This is definitely Grenoside. It is in the Ecclesfield, Grenoside
Chapeltown images of England by Mel Jones. Opened in 1904, to replace
an earlier Chapel built in 1857. It became surplus to requirements
in the 1960's and as stated before it is now a private home.
Karen Batchelor:
I realise the date you have given is 1864, but it looks remarkably
like the Primitive Methodist church on Main Street Grenoside with
the date 1904 above the door. The church is on the opposite site
of the road to the Old Harrow pub. I have a photo I took a few years
ago (early 1990s?) taken directly facing the church so the view
is slightly different but the design features look exactly the same.
Could the sign have been misread? I believe the church has now been
converted to a private residence. It had a "for sale"
sign up when the photo was taken.
Pat Mabson:
It could be on Main Street, Grenoside (not a private house)
opposite Old Harrow.
Ruth Mitchell:
Main Street, Grenoside, now converted to a house.
C. Gleed:
I'd have to have a second look next time I pass, but the layout,
entrances and proximity to the house next door, looks very much
like St Timothy's Church on Slinn Street at Crookes. Of course,
the church now has been built on and is much bigger than this.
Charlotte:
Look like the top end of Foxhill Road, off Halifax Road, Hillsborough,
Sheffield S6.
Linda Muscroft:
I believe this could be the chapel I attended as a child - the
location is Hollinsend Road, Sheffield 12.
