A 120 tonne mobile crane lifts away the walkway between old and new town hall buildings.

Bits of the Eggbox interior hang from the windows, as the demolition team await the arrival of their secret weapon.

The secret weapon arrives: "Jaws", a huge, gangling machine which will devour the building piece by piece.

The landscape changes once more: stand on Pinstone Street, and you can see straight through to Arundel Gate!

Finding the Eggbox a tough building to chew, "Jaws" has called for assistance. It arrives in the shape of "The Giraffe": a giant long-reach device which not only resembles the eponymous beast... it's painted like one too!

New vistas are opened - and bits of "eggbox" pile up in a heap - as the demolition continues apace. Look out for the wacky wallpaper exposed in one close-up: whose office was this, we wonder?

The Eggbox's whole entrance hall has now bitten the dust - and the underground carpark is looking even less hospitable than ever...

There's now just a forlorn-looking stub of masonry where the Eggbox once stood. And before the demolition is even complete, diggers are busy clearing the rubble ready for its replacement...
