This
homely gallery in Barnsley houses exhibitions covering anything
from cutting-edge digital imagery to what most people perceive as
‘proper’ art, i.e.: very small pictures in massive frames by artists
with names like Thomas Charles Leeson Ramsbottom (I joke not, this
really was one of the artists' names when I visited).
Very
nice if you like that sort of thing, and extremely worthy of a look
round by all you Antiques Roadshow viewers out there.
There
is also a display which cases artists proposals for the empty plinth
in Market Hill.
There
are lots of smaller bits of arty jewellery and tidbits on sale,
including some very nice but completely useless ornaments.
There
is a café inside the gallery also, with some of the friendliest
staff you will ever speak to. They do a cracking scone, and the
food is cheap and cheerful.
Small
but satisfying, this gallery is one that you really should spend
a few minutes in if the chance arises.
