The Post Office has announced this morning it will close seven branches across South Yorkshire.

It follows a six week public consultation, which ended on November 12.

The first closures are scheduled to take place in late January 2008.

Branches that will close:

Balby, 296 Balby Road, Balby, Doncaster, DN4 0QF

Bennetthorpe, 2b Bennetthorpe, Doncaster, DN2 6AD

Fishlake, Main Street, Fishlake, Doncaster, DN7 5JH

Hatfield Woodhouse, Main Street, Hatfield Woodhouse, Doncaster, DN7 6NF

Hyde Park, 55 Carr House Road, Doncaster, DN1 2BY

Northfield, 111-113 King Edward Road, Thorne, Doncaster, DN8 4DD

• The Royal Mail has confirmed the consultation process for the rest of South Yorkshire is due to take place in August, 2008. This will determine if any branches will close in the rest of the region.
