They've been trundling around the city since 1994 - and now you can take a virtual tram ride with a whistle-stop trip from Meadowhall to Middlewood - right here! Help playing audio/video Help playing audio/video ![]() Inside a tram cab The first ever tram trip in Sheffield was taken at 6am on 21st March 1994. You may well have taken to the rails for the odd tram trip - or the daily commute. But unless you happen to be a tram driver, you won't have got the view from the cab, or that all-important feeling of control. ![]() Tram controls So hop into the driver's cab as we take a trip from Meadowhall to Middlewood. Ding ding! Along the way, you'll be able to spot some of Sheffield's most famous landmarks. Look out for the Cathedral and (especially if you're an ex-pat) the former "Hole In The Road" at Castle Square, which was filled in and remodelled in 1995 to make way for the tramline.
