| Sheffield Legends | There are over 2500 stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Only around 2100 have been used so far. The Sheffield Legends plaque will be situated outside the Town Hall. It is thought that this will be the first 'Hollywood Boulevard-style' pavement in the country. |
The city council are launching 'Sheffield Legends' which will honour people who have brought the city recognition at national or international level. The best bit about the scheme is that YOU decide who'll be honoured! Members of the public are being asked to nominate who they think should be included - all you have to do is say why in 50 words. The nominees will have to be from, or closely associated with Sheffield. | "Visitors will realise just how much the city has contributed to so much of our country's heritage and culture" | | Jan Wilson |
The scheme will see a plaque set into the pavement outside the town hall in the style of the 'Hollywood Walk of Fame'. Ten legends will be unveiled early next year and there will be one per year after that. Council leader Jan Wilson said: "We hope the plaques in the city centre will eventually become another important tourist attraction for Sheffield and visitors will realise just how much the city has contributed to so much of our country's heritage and culture."
