But when there's an extra excuse - like Hallowe'en - Sheffield's club nutcases like to make that special effort.

Our cameras hit the Republic on 31 October to capture a night of spooky club madness.

And the results didn't disappoint.

Trick or treat was never like this in our day..

Not only were vampires, witches and Grim Reapers, out in force - there were also a few less likely fancy dress costumes in evidence.

We're not quite sure what bunny rabbits, bees, cowboys or hillbillies have to do with Hallowe'en - but to be honest, who cares?

With three rooms of top tuneage in full flow, and clubbers getting stuck into the booze like Dracula into a damsel's neck, seasonal relevance was the last thing on everyone's minds.

It was horribly - no, gruesomely good.
