MJ Paranzino

MJ Paranzino

MJ and the choir

Top vocal coach, composer and conductor from Philadelpia, USA, MJ Paranzino is an inspirational figure who passionately believes in the emotional power of singing to heal the soul.

MJ runs 2 choirs, one in London and one with the Brighton City Singers.

"You can be tired, not feel well, be grumpy whatever it is, after you're done singing you walk away skipping. That's it, you know. It's a given."

Healing Harmonies

It's a sentiment echoed by choir members, many of whom live for their weekly fix of a good choir session. And incidentally, there's a lot of research into the power of singing, and indeed yes, by the NHS who recognise it's benefits for our emotional health.

But above all it's MJ's inspirational style and sheer charisma that drives the Brighton City Singers. A former professional performer herself, MJ now runs the two choirs and  is a professional vocal coach, with a sprinkling of pop stars among her clients.

Brighton City Singers

The choir agrees that singing makes you happy

Everybody can sing, they can squeak or squawk it doesn't matter, they're all welcome in MJ's choir. Singing, she says, is for everyone. MJ doesn't demand total commitment either, such is her belief in its benefits. Members can come and go and come back, it doesn't matter.

It's the sheer joy of singing that brings so much richness to her life and to the people MJ works with.
