Such was the case for Anthony Hayward, known as the Bournemouth Bus Bard. As a taxi driver in Bournemouth, Tony took to writing poetry. He read it to his customers and even gave them the ditties he'd written. ![]() He then became a bus driver and would write about the people he met and the things he saw, before a slip in the bath and nasty bang to the head cut short his bus career. ![]() Anthony Hayward Now he writes full time. He's a published poet and has an ardent fan club among the ladies of the Poole Writers Circle. His first collection of poetry is entitled 'Reveille of Rhyme'. ![]() Tony's book "Reveille of Rhyme" "It's a case that I can actually express how I feel." says Tony. "But I can actually screw it up and throw it away if I wanted to. It's a great release." I met up with the Bard and found out what makes him tick - or compose.
