Mula
@ The Gloucester,
Brighton
|
Now close your eyes and imagine Red Hot Chilli Peppers
style vocals with some dark and sometimes deep tribal beats. Add
a twist of soul, and you will be on your way to understanding Mula's
music.

They are a local band and with the right management,
they could really make it.
Radio 1 has already warmed to these lads. Last
time Mula played the Gloucester was when Radio 1 live was there
back in October 2003.
By all accounts they had the place packed, so it
was disappointing to see that there were no more than a handful
of people there this time.
The atmosphere was very dry and almost draining,
that is until Mula stepped up and started their set.
By the second track everyone had gathered on the
dance floor just in front of the stage and the atmosphere had completely
changed;, it was now both invigorating and inviting. There was not
a soul in the house who was not tapping their foot.
For Mula to turn the atmosphere around in a deserted
club on a Wednesday night, that in itself must say that they have
something special.
They are not perfect and on a couple of tracks,
they lacked a little direction but I guess that would be down to
production.
If you get a chance to see these live go, see for
yourself and I am sure you will agree that they have that special
something, the x factor.
