The Horsham District Battle of the Bands 2003 kicked off to a fantastic start last night (Sunday 14th September) with the first of four heats.

Fall to Zero, Spaniards, Auberon Phoenix and the Dirt Box Fiddlers and Te-Puki Thunder battled it out for a slot in the final which will take place on Nov 1st as the climax to the Horsham Town Centre Festival.

The incredible energy and talent displayed by all four bands made the judges' job very difficult, but at the end of a blistering first heat Te-Puki Thunder were declared the winners, firmly booking their place in the final.

With three more heats and a covers final to go, the competition is just getting started.

Those that missed the first heat can catch up with the competition this Sunday.

The line up features Billingshurst based melodic grungers, Madeira Drive and 14 year old upstarts, Soundart (the youngest band in the competition).

Also appearing will be Horsham based ska punks, Just Called Charlie; the singer and songwriter Tony Randle; and full on Steyning based rockers, Paradox.

Indie rockers The Reason will play a warm up set from 7pm.

Doors open at 6.45pm and entry is £3/£2HDLMA members. Arrive early to get a good seat.

Battle of the Bands is jointly organised by The Horsham District Live Music Alliance and Horsham District Council.
