The Tigers: on parade.

The Princess Of Wales' Royal regiment is back in the UK after long service in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

The regiment will be marching through local towns in a series of homecoming parades, with major crowds greeting them in Worthing and Guildford.

Known as 'The Tigers', the PWRR march in Lewes today, exercising their Freedom of the town led by the Kohima Band. The parade will start and finish at Westgate Street and takes place between 12:20 and 1:15 pm.

Most of the troops have served in Basra training the Iraqi army before the British handover with a number on active service in Afghanistan.

This week Private John Brackpool, from Crawley, a soldier from the PWRR attached to 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, was killed during fighting with the Taliban near Lashkar Gah. In total eight British troops died last week in Afghanistan.

The 2nd Battalion of the PWRR won tributes for their defence of the Roshan Tower in Afghanistan against enormous Taliban numbers. The battle was likened by former SAS author Andy McNab to Rorke's Drift.
