Crawley Mela

Brazilian samba, the music of Ghana and as much food as you can eat - the Crawley Mela is on its way.

Crawley International Mela, perhaps the ultimate local multi-cultural festival, is back with a wide-ranging cast list of music and arts.

The weekend long free event offers music and dance from across the world - including Crawley itself.

Music includes the Brazilian carnival band Samba Latina, Southern Ghanaian drummers Kakatsitsi and an outdoor Bhangra concert by Singh is King, Ronak Bollywood Brass and Qawali.

WHERE: The Hawth, Crawley
WHEN: Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 July from 12 noon

Glastonbury veterans Zambula, an African dance band, are on stage on Sunday night and the festival's Community Stage returns with a programme including Hindu dance, Irish dance and African fashions.

The Mela always offers a range of free workshops for the whole family  including Tiger Crane Shaolin Chi Gong as well as well-being workshops for adults.

Its foodstalls are also a major draw - with a chance to sample food from all over the world.
