Dorking caves

The historic town of Dorking has a secret, hidden deep beneath the streets and buildings. BBC Surrey's Peter Stewart went to find out more about the network of caves and tunnels.

Peter Stewart meets senior cave guide Professor Selley, who takes him on a tour of the extraordinary feature.

THE GALLERY

Dorking cave guides take you on a tour of the subterranean system of tunnels, wells and caverns which make up the South Street part of the Dorking caves.

The South Street Caves are open to the public on the 2nd Sunday of the month, from March to November. Tours must be pre-booked via the Visitor Information Centre, situated in the Dorking Halls. Telephone 01306 879327 or email visitor.information@molevalley.gov.uk.
Tours cost £4.50 for adults and £2.50 for children over 5.
