This is the first year that the residents of Kingscliffe Court at Rock Grove have participated in the Open Houses of Brighton.

An appropriate setting as many of the residents are artists, including Sama Mara in collaboration with Gunes Omer who has created a sound and light installation, David Drodge exhibiting photography and collage, Georgia Taylor's photography, Alberto Martinez' surrealist Cuban art and Anne Madden (Alex & Vicky’s mum)with her abstract paintings. In total there are 17 artists exhibiting throughout the building with such diversity that there is likely to be art to appeal to everyone. The most outstanding are the pieces by Rebekka Holzer with her abstract impressionism, with other highlights for me including John's first inclusion of illustrations Made in Little Spikey Land and Dos' photograph of the female body in profile. There is so much to take in I'm going back for another look and will probably end up at the terrace on the top floor for some refreshments and banana cake. |
