Bognor: what's best?

Could Bognor be better?

If you had to tell a friend the five best things about your home town, what would those things be? Maybe the most honest critics of a place are those that have to grow up there..we linked up teenagers in Bognor...

Video Report: Forty Eight Hours

Teenagers in Bognor Regis have been learning how to make movies for the BBC with the help of the 48 hours team.

This is me reporting for the BBC...

Last weekend, Bognor Regis youth centre was a hive of activity as local young people spent a whole day at a BBC 48 hours filming workshop,  learning how to make short films which they scripted and shot entirely by themselves.

Firstly they built a “video booth”  and got to grips with the broadcast quality kit by interviewing each other.

They then went out on ‘location’  and  took turns in being presenters, camera operators and sound recordists as they made little films about what it is like to be a teenager in Bognor at the weekend.

Dog poo, Butlins and vandalism were just some of the hot topics which feature in the final films.

None of the 14 young participants had ever made a film before, but with the help of BBC staff and a team of dedicated helpers drawn from the youth centre and Bognor CAN (a local youth charity which is based at the centre) they produced four films.

And this is me reporting as well...

The quality which deeply impressed CAN project leader Carol Fullick: “None of the young people who came today had any experience of film making before and I was swept away by their enthusiasm for filming and their talent.'

'It is very confidence building for them to have their voices heard and broadcast via the BBC.  I know that they will remember this day for a very long time and I am very proud of what they have achieved here today!”

“Park life” and “Infotown” receive their exclusive world premiere here. Look out for , “Attack of the Litter” and “The good, the bad and the vandals” next week!
